Canyon Cove Hotel & Spa is one of the most popular resorts in Nasugbu, Batangas. We have stayed at Canyon Woods in Laurel, Batangas few years back and they highly advertise Canyon Cove. We had a pleasant stay at Canyon Woods so we thought that maybe we will be satisfied to have a staycation in Canyon Cove as well. Since then, we always plan on going to Canyon Cove and thankfully, we've got a pretty good discounted price from Sole Adventours. That's a lot cheaper than booking directly on Canyon Cove's website.
Canyon Cove is located in Nasugbu, Batangas. It is just a few minutes away from the Nasugbu Town proper so you can go out anytime if you want to eat outside the resort or you need to buy something. The only challenge when going there on a weekend is the heavy traffic in Tagaytay area so it's best to go on a weekday. Besides, you can enjoy your stay even more because there are less guests during weekdays.
The standard check-in time in Canyon Cove is 3:00 pm and the check-out time is strictly 12:00 nn. We arrived past 3pm already due to heavy traffic so we don't know if they allow early check-in. Also, it took us some time at the front desk because they asked me to fill-up some forms.
We booked the Canyon Cove's Superior Room. The allowed number of guests in the room is 2 adults and 2 kids (sharing bed with adults). Since we're 3 adults and 1 child, we pay extra for one adult. The package we've got has no breakfast included because it's too pricey. We just had our brunch in the Nasugbu town proper upon checking out the next day.
Our room is located in the fourth floor and a little far from the elevator. There are two twin beds in the room and another day bed near the window. We also loved the balcony with the relaxing beach view. There's a television, phone, coffee making facilities, and a mini refrigerator inside the room.
Unfortunately, there is no wifi connection in the room. If you want to have an internet access, you need to go to the hotel lobby at the ground floor. There are tables and chairs there so you can stay comfortably. Otherwise, you may opt to bring your own pocket wifi. We brought our Sun and Globe and they are both working fine in the area. Although sometimes, we still experienced connection lost especially with Globe. Sun is so much better.
The toilet and bath is spacious. Everything's okay, complete with dental kit, soap, shampoo and towels. The only downside is that, there is no bidet in the toilet. The faucet is out of reach when sitting, so if you need to use water, you have to stand up and go there. There's a tissue roll but still, having a handheld bidet sprayer is much better.
The pool is very big so you can definitely enjoy swimming around, especially the kids. There's a nearby playground as well but our son didn't play there because he's too preoccupied with swimming. The beach front has a fine sand but there are stones and corals under the water. You can do some water activities (for a fee, of course) like banana boat, kayaking, jet ski and paddle boat. We tried kayaking for PhP 250, for 30 minutes.
We had our dinner at the restaurant near the beach. The food are quite pricey but not totally good. We ordered sinigang and binagoongan. I have a high expectation with the food but I end up disappointed. I couldn't even see and taste the bagoong in binagoongan. It seems that they didn't put bagoong at all. Then the meat on the sinigang was not well-cooked. So for breakfast, we opted not to order at the restaurant.
Despite the not-so-good experience at their restaurant, we still enjoyed our general stay at Canyon Cove. Beautiful view, good ambiance. A very relaxing place indeed. We surely want to go back there again and definitely not on a weekend.
