Mount Nagpatong is also located in the Maragondon Mountain Range. From the Mount Buntis post, you learned that this is the site where Andres Bonifacio was allegedly executed. A lot of historians contest that Mount Nagpatong is the actual site for this event. They found remains, which supported the claim.
Hikers may start their journey by assembling at the Maragondon Municipal Hall going to eco-park. There are several historical attractions there, which may be interesting to most. You may also view the Bonifacio Shrine located in Mount Nagpatong. After a quick look around, start the short trek up the summit of Mount Nagpatong. The 100m elevation takes around 15 to 30 minutes of hiking. The roads are relatively easy to stroll in, perfect for beginners and non-hikers. Once you reach the top, you will see a nice view of the environment below. The green scenery is pleasant to the sight and you may take some moments to enjoy the view.
Once you get back down, explore other nearby attractions to complete your day! Visit the Maragondon Church or the Bonifacio Trial House. This is really the best place to get to know more about our heroes.
Considering Mount Nagpatong is a fairly short climb, most hikers choose to make it a side trip after they hike Mount Buntis. This creates a much better experience of the area as you get to see both historical sites. Start your hike early to escape the heat of the sun and to make sure you get to maximize your time.
How to Get There
It’s important to plan your trip in advance to make sure you know exactly what to do and where to go on the day itself. Here are some ways to get to your destination:
(Maragondon City – Municipal Hall – Jump off point)
The way to Mount Nagpatong is very similar to that of Mount Buntis. From Manila, take a bus bound for Maragondon, Cavite. After an hour and a half, you will arrive at Maragondon. Alight the bus and proceed to the Municipal Hall. Register your hike and pay the necessary fees. After which, you are ready to proceed to the jump-off point in Bonifacio eco-park either on foot or hire a trike.
Another alternative is to take your private vehicles. You may park your cars at the municipal hall and hire a trike going to eco-park. This makes it easier to visit other sites after your trek!
