Expect to pass through grasslands, rocky terrains and forested areas. The scenic trek gives you a nice view of Laguna de Bay, nearby mountain ranges and rows of mango trees. The different types of landscapes keeps hikers entertained as the hike progresses. A few challenging steps here and there adds to the feeling of adventure for Mount Sembrano. Everything builds up the hype for when you reach the highest peak of the mountain. The summit itself offers a fantastic view of Mount Makiling, Talim Island and Sierra Madre. The trail leading up to Mount Sembrano is beginner friendly but with a hint of challenge. Just from the start of the trail, rough roads will greet you as you enter the path. But don’t worry! A little perseverance and you’ll surely get to your destination. Rocky terrains will soon follow while you head into the thick forest. The feeling of being one with nature shows up here as you find yourself hidden deep within trees and various plants. Continue on until you find yourself surrounded by mango trees. You have reached Manggahan and you may choose to stop and rest for a while here. There is a campsite where you can fill up on your water supply.
Proceeding with trek, grasslands and rocky slopes will soon follow. You will pass by the North Peak, another campsite and good viewing point. Rest up or continue on until you reach the summit. Marvel at the beautiful view and make sure to get good photos! Try to time your hike so that you would be just in time to catch the sunset. It creates a much more spectacular backdrop as the colors in the sky put on a show.
When you’re ready to go down, try to make time for the Manggahan falls. It’s a nice added attraction, perfect to end your adventure.
How to Get There
It’s important to plan your trip in advance to make sure you know exactly what to do and where to go on the day itself. Here are some ways to get to your destination:
(Tanay, Rizal – Barangay Malaya, Pililia – Jump off point)
Mount Sebrano is fairly close to Manila. It is easily accessible by both private and public transportation alike, making it easy for hikers to get there. From Manila, take a jeepney or a public van to Tanay, Rizal. Get off at the city proper and transfer to a tricycle or another jeepney that would take you to Barangay Malaya in Pililia, Rizal. Ask to be dropped off at the barangay hall. This is where you pay necessary fees and register your hike. Local guides are not required but are available here. After settling everything, proceed to the jump-off point and begin your adventure!
Another alternative would be to take your own private vehicles. Proceed directly to Barangay Malaya, Pililia. There are available parking spaces at the barangay hall.
