We’ve got our customized Sapa tour package from Asia Charm Tours including the one night accommodation in Sapa. I didn’t have any idea about our hotel in Sapa Town so I didn’t set my expectations high.
When we arrived at the Lao Cai Train Station, the driver was already waiting for us outside. Thankfully, the paper he was holding has big fonts so I saw my name immediately. It’s about an hour drive from the train station to Sapa Town. He dropped us off at Sapa Unique Hotel to have a breakfast there. I thought we’re going to check-in there but after eating our breakfast, their staff accompanied us going to Dang Nguyen Hotel. It’s only a few steps away from Sapa Unique Hotel so it’s fine with us. I guess they didn’t have enough room that day so they sent us to the nearby hotel. Anyway, what’s important is that we had a nice place to stay.
Dang Nguyen Hotel is located in Fansipan Street, Sapa Town. It is just a walking distance from the center of Sapa and famous attractions like Notre Dame Cathedral, Sapa Lake, Ham Rong mountain, Sapa market and many more. There are also many outdoor shops, restaurants, and different kinds of stores around the area.
Their standard check-in time is 12:00 noon and check-out time is 11:00 am. Late check-out after 11:00 am up to 6:00 pm will be charged 50% of the published room rates. If you check out after 6:00 pm, you will be charged 100% of the daily room rate. Since we have a whole day tour, we check-out at the hotel after having a breakfast and we just left our luggage at their storage.
The lobby of Dang Nguyen Hotel is spacious, clean and looks new. They have a couch at the lobby where you can relax while waiting for your check-in time or your service pick-up. Our room is located at the fourth floor but Dang Nguyen Hotel doesn’t have an elevator so we have to take the stairs while carrying our heavy luggage all the way there.
Asia Charm Tours arranged everything for us so I didn’t know what type of room they will give us. It turned out that they booked a double room for us which is good for only 2 persons. Although we’re 4 persons (3 adults and 1 child), they gave us a double room instead of a family room. There are two single beds and it’s a good thing that the four of us were able to fit ourselves there. There’s a balcony with overlooking view of the town, a television and high speed internet connection. The weather in Sapa is very cold especially during December but they have a heater inside the room. The water heater in the bathroom though didn’t work properly. It’s hot on the first few minutes but will become cold even without switching. Also, there’s a hole in the wall where the cold wind can enter so it’s really chilly inside the bathroom.
Overall, we still enjoyed our stay at Dang Nguyen Hotel and Sapa Town in general. We’re fully satisfied and happy with their service.
